Do you Hate Reading Books?
Why do some people love reading books? Why do others hate it? Some of this might be caused by what you have observed. If you have always been surrounded by people who read a million books but did nothing with their lives, you might not be interested in books. On the other hand, if you saw people's lives being changed by books you will likely love to read. Regardless, of your situation, pick up a book and read it. Readers get way ahead in life....yeah you heard me....Readers are leaders, as they say.

Family is family
Everybody is from somewhere, and even if you don't know your family, you still have a family history. We always end up moving here and there in the journey of life but don't forget your family. Apart from you all carrying the same DNA, there are so many other things that you all can share along the journey of life. And for those who have a family which has no biological ties, then take pride in that too, as there are some people in life who can be just like family. These are the people who have your best interests at heart no matter what you did or did not do. Recognize these people in your life and hold on to them because they are also "family."

The pursuit of love
In Tanzania there are 2 Swanglish sayings which can summarize the quote for today, Usipende kufosi mambo and Mpende akupendaye asiyekupenda achana naye. The first quote means don't develop a liking for forcing things to happen and the second one means Love the one who loves you and forget the one who doesn't. Both of these quotes tie back to love and the act of letting go. In the journey of love there are times of uncertainty, sometimes you have to step back and wait for the future to unfold. If you all are meant to be in whatever way that means to you....you all will be together. Of course, don't force love or the one you love to do that they do not desire to.

Comfort zone walls and life
What are your comfort zones? What keeps you trapped in them? Do you know there is a whole new other world waiting to be explored? There is so much you don't know about yourself and others, but by getting out your comfort zone, you will discover a whole new world. So take a deep breath or count from 1 to 10, and then a day at a time, begin to break down those comfort zones, and you will be surprised that you are also helping others in the process.

Solitude is golden
Are you afraid of taking time alone? Taking time alone is a gift in its self. Sometimes the best revelations or epiphanies emerge in moments of solitude. So whenever you find yourself alone either by choice or chance, in the midst of a busy day; embrace the solitude and listen....listen and you will hear what needs to be heard.

Self -worth is critical
Where do you get your sense of self-worth? For some it might mainly be from others. But what's tricky about that? Well it's like giving people the right to define you. Who gave them the right? Maybe you? Whatever the case, just learn to respect you before respecting others; Know your worth!

Poverty....oh poverty
I have never thought that poverty was similar to violence. But now, that I think of the forces behind poverty....I am finally able to see how it could be a form of violence. I think there are some oppressive systems in place which would rather think of profit than the cost of a human life. I am yet to learn about those systems, but take time with me today to reflect on how we can help uproot the systematic causes of poverty. Peace everybody!
