Complications? Life doesn't have to be that complicated

We sometimes complicate things ourselves by the manner that we approach them. Life does not always have to be so complicated. We can do that daily by learning to be honest with ourselves and others. There is no need to waste time finding ways to make easy things complicated. Enjoy life by not creating unnecessary complications. Great day!

Step by step

Don't you sometimes feel like all the weight of the world is on you? Doesn't that sometimes become all of what keeps you up and going? It is perfectly alright to have many dreams and goals but they should not be the only thing that keep you moving. It is okay to have moments that are unplanned because even those play an important part in helping your body, mind, and spirit to relax so that you can reach wherever you need to in 1 piece. So RELAX because you are closer to where you wanna go than yesterday.

We all need some criticism at times

Don't we all love hearing compliments? They are definitely great in helping us to feel like moving forward. We are sometimes not always as open to criticism as to compliments but there is a lot that we can learn from criticism. We just have to learn to know how to distinguish between constructive and destructive criticism. It is not always easy to do but with a dose of humility everyday we can gradually improve as we accept criticism and use it to improve ourselves and the lives of others.

The importance of the Sankofa bird

Sometimes history seems so irrelevant and some say it is time to move on. But how can we truly move on without understanding our past? If we do so we run the risk of repeating the same mistakes in even a higher degree at worst. So we should all seek to understand our history and even that of others in order to make sure that we are making a better future instead of just mindlessly moving on. So don't ever let someone tell you "Get over it" if you have not even fully comprehended what happened in the first place.

The strength that comes from bending

It is possible that we all have been through trying times in our lives. We have also maybe had times that were way easier than others which we sometimes place more value on. Nevertheless, there is also a lot that we can learn and gain from the hard times in our life. One of those things is strength because as the hard times in life almost break or tear us and we bend...we soon become more resilient. This strength that we get from being resilient is what can help us to help others and even ourselves in future trying times as we all know that life is not a piece of cake.

Parents and you

Some of us may or may not know our biological parents while some of us have non-biological parents or figures. Whatever the case is for you, please don't take your parents for granted and the same applies to your grandparents. It is not always easy to please your parents or to even make them happy but even when you disagree with them don't let it be a wall between you and them. Cherish them and whenever you disagree just let it be a scenario when you agree to disagree in harmony.

Believe in you

We all come from different backgrounds and maybe some of us believe in ourselves more than others. But regardless of your past, you can take a new step today and begin living your life for you by believing in you. If you don't do that, don't be surprised that many years later you will realize that you did not live your own life because you lived it according to the beliefs of others. So don't forget to make your mark in the world by also believing in you!

The whisper of courage

Sometimes you might think you are not supposed to go on if you don't see a big sign. But sometimes all it takes for you to move forward can be listening to the tiniest inner voice in you that tells you to press forward. It's human to feel afraid and discouraged but don't let that imprison you...just do what you have to do even when you are still afraid and then you will be surprised that being courageous will lead you to the road of fearlessness.

Family ties

We all might know that person who is like a sister, mother, brother or uncle. Let's not ever think of them as anything less than family just because we have no blood ties. In this twisted life it is no surprise at all that sometimes your family won't act like family and those who aren't family will act like family. You also have a duty to be family to someone...don't ever neglect being there for someone just because you think you are not a family member.

Peace is ...

Peace is sometimes taken for granted and efforts to maintain it are ignored but sadly there is a thin line between peace and chaos. We should strive to be on the right side of that line. We should strive to have internal and external peace that transcends everything with the hope that it can inspire the hearts of others.

The myth of perfection

No one is perfect and if you think you are then you are wrong. Just take a good look at yourself and you might realize that the times you blamed the imperfections of others might have been the times when the imperfect side of you was out. This is not supposed to be a personal attack on the integrity of anyone but basically a wake up call that can motivate us to be more accepting of others by realizing that we ourselves are not perfect in the eyes of others.

Fearing fear and you

We all have many things that we embrace as our fears as we are all human; but let us not forget to ask ourselves the root of our fears. We should not let fears be there to imprison us but we instead use them as stepping stones as we move from different stages of life. It's okay to have fears but don't let it end there...do something about it today and move on!

Giving up and holding on

Being logistical and future oriented is a great trait to have...the danger arises when one begins to over-think and over-plan the future. Be prepared and logical but don't get weary before you even begin to embrace or pursue the future. Enjoy the present by thinking futuristically but act a day at a time...of course with positivity and don't give up.

Parents the angels in our lives

If you have them in your life...don't forget to make them smile. Most parents love their children even if they don't know how to love them sometimes and sometimes you have to teach them how to love. But for the most part a good number of people can recall fond memories of their parents...or you can atleast acknowledge the sacrifices they have had to made to care for you from the moment you were conceived....So don't forget your parents...make them smile!!!

Happy Father's day!!!!

Don't forget to appreciate God and all the fatherly figures in your life today. Don't wait for tomorrow just let them know today how much they mean to you. Nobody is perfect including your father so if you are not in good terms just forgive them or find a place in your heart to plant that will.

Watering the grass and its rewards

Do you live your life like a lottery ticket knowingly or unknowingly? Sometimes doing so might cause you to always rely on chance to decide your destiny. The danger is that such a belief might lead you into not watering your garden at all in any area of your life...Why?...because you think the grass is greener elsewhere. Really? Maybe or maybe not but don't over-rely on chance to decide the greenness of the grass...just water your grass in the mean time.

Cheating on him or her

We have often talked about love in different aspects on this blog except when it comes to the big C which is cheating.  What makes people cheat? Do you tolerate cheating? And if you do why do you? I think that in an ideal relationship it is important for both partners to understand their partners' fears about cheating. Everybody has had a different experience directly or indirectly about cheating so it is important for partners and everyone else to be understanding and patient whenever discussing very touchy areas in relationships like cheating. Cheating hurts and causes a lot of damage...so don't do it today or tomorrow...it is better to walk away first  than to cheat first.

Time and you

I need more time...I don't have enough time...We will never do that in time! I am sure that you have all heard those phrases mentioned in a variety of ways. The reality is that we will always feel like we don't have enough time if we don't make time for whatever we want to do. It is not always as easy as it sounds but don't give up...just be patient with yourself and you will soon learn what time management skills will work for you.

Humility and you and others

Sometimes it is so easy to wonder why others are so different from you. They might also be wondering the same thing about you. It is sometimes best to reach for the deepest part of humility inside of you and live your life peacefully while letting others do the same. Sometimes all you have to do is humbly live your life your way and others will be inspired to do whatever good thing you are doing that you desire for them to also do.

Newness and its beauty

Do you see new experiences in a positive or negative light? What makes you think of it that way? Remember that you can only be the same person once so make sure you live fully...embrace the new. There is something so fresh and mysterious about new things....yeah Kipya kinyemi!

Envy...is there a good or bad type?

I envy you...I'm jealous...Comments like these are a part of our daily conversations and reflect that we sometimes can't see what we already have. Of course some might complain that my interpretation is too literal but I think there is more than one way to interpret different expressions. And one thing I can give as my 2 cent on those phrases and the issue of envy is; Don't waste your time trying to live a copy of someone's life....learn and then personalize and create your own original life...don't be a copy.

Judging others

Some people like saying "Don't judge." Isn't that interesting? It looks like that statement could sometimes mean that the person does not want to be perceived in an unfavorable light because of a past or current incident...or even sometimes a wish. So what remains if we don't judge others? Well one answer is love because if we truly love others then we will try our best to understand their points of views or actions with no judgement.

Choices

Everyday we have the decision to choose to dwell on the past or the future or the present. I am pretty sure everyone has faced a lot of positive and negative things on different levels. And whatever we choose to feed our mind on can soon become our character blueprint. Any day it is really up to you to  choose to be happy and ignore the rest.

Hard life lessons

In many areas of life we usually have conscious and unconscious expectations. This is sometimes  a good thing but can also be a bad thing if patience is thrown away. In this fast paced technological world, it is not always easy to wait but waiting can sometimes save us from a lot of losses. Below is a short story...if you forget everything about it just remember that patience is a critical virtue.

Falling in love

Love is a common part of life for a lot of people everyday. Sometimes it is understandably hard to know from day 1 what to do if you think you are in love. All I can say is....let Time tell. Time has this amazing ability of letting out the truth in a lot of matters including love.

Tact...yeah you heard it

We all have so many opinions on everything from here and every corner of the world. I think there is really a need for everyone to be really keen about not disrespecting the opinions of others. We need to be more tactful in every aspect of life...it is a process of course but where there is a will there is a way!

Dreams and reality

It's always fun to dream once a while about everything from love to our careers. Dreaming never ends and it is an aspect that helps us to experience life fully. Some dreams are meant to remain dreams while some are meant to become reality. It is now up to you to figure out which is which. So live your life...yeah...it's yours and only you can live it right.

The beauty of travelling

Travelling within a country or even from a country to country is a lot of money indeed. The beauty of it is that we become exposed to new sights, sounds, tastes, ideologies and even more. Life does not only exist in our backyards or neighborhoods so experiencing a bit of  life from another perspective adds to the richness of life. Don't be afraid to save money and explore your country and the world. There is still much waiting to be seen by you...the world wants to give you more than your money can buy. So Safe current and future travels everyone this weekend!

Dreaming is not enough

I have often heard people say, "If you can dream it then you can be it."  I think there is a part missing...let us not leave room for assumptions and be straight on and also add on to it; "If you can dream and DO it then you can be it." Doing something is important and not only doing it for the sake of doing it but doing it and completing the dream so that it becomes a reality....or it will remain a dream. So don't give up!

Gratitude is the attitude!

Every day many things happen to many of us...some are good and some are bad. We all sometimes choose to blame such circumstances for making us into what we are. What if we changed our attitude about such negative moments? Well guess what...if we put gratitude into the equation then we could then consider such times as learning experiences that make us wiser and stronger.
