Communicating in Circles

Sometimes after communicating in circles there is no more room for any other circle but a linear line.

Spreading Laughter and Smiles

How will you measure your success in life? Will it be by how much you have acquired materialistically? Whatever your answer is, here's an idea. Think about the people around you. How many laughs and smiles have you enabled people to have? I always appreciate it when someone makes me laugh or smile and I bet everyone else does too. So you can include that in your list of goals.

How to Engage Children in Summer Day Programs

The following are some ways to engage your children in summer day programs:
  • Ask them what types of games they like to play
  • Ask them to give you a list of their favorite songs
  • Ask them what activities they enjoy the most and why
The above 3 points can help you find ways to connect and have a great time engaging children in summer day programs or even during the regular school year. Just remember that the curriculum is not there for you to smile over but for them to smile back to.

Disciplining Children through Engaging them

For those who have had worked with children in variety of settings this might be nothing new. Anyway, it might be new to some others. There are 2 types of noise. The type of noise that is disruptive and disrespectful while the other is that full of  laughter, smiles, and learning. Overcome the former by fostering the latter in every way possible. Engage your children to the maximum. That is all.

Daddy Stay Home

One child in my class today prayed that his dad would stop working long hours and stay home more often. He's only like 7 so it blew my mind that he was bold to include a personal aspect of his life in an opening prayer. Well children surprise me everyday and I realized that I might need to be a parental figure for some of the children this summer.

Influencing Others through Leadership

Do not ever underestimate the influence that you have as a leader. There are even times that people will blindly follow your vision. So you better make sure that the vision is big enough for them to make it their own and expand it.

Being Analytical and Accountable

Being analytical is a great strength that can also sometimes be a hidden weakness. Do you know why? Well it can sometimes make you keen at finding faults and sometimes placing yourself far away from the blame. So guess what? Be analytical and accountable to balance your strength.

Seeing Things As We Want to

Most of the times we see what we want to. There is a time that you need to see things for what they truly are. And, sometimes you will need another set of eyes to help open your eyes.

The Roller Coaster

Have you ever been on a roller coaster when you are in the midst of something new? If so then just hold on and out of those ups and downs, your fearlessness will enable you to enjoy the ride and make something out of the entire journey.

Digging some Sade Part 2

Hey again everyone! Guess what I am busy again but as I promised I will share some food for thought. And, my musings are from Sade's music again. I love her old song called "Keep Looking". Why? Because it's all about being confident and positive. Basically, forget the naysayers. It may not be easy but keep looking.

Digging Some Sade

Have you ever listened to Sade? She has a lot of thought provoking and relaxing songs. I am really digging her song "King of Sorrow". Why? Because it talks about patterns. The patterns in life and how we sometimes go through life lifelessly.

Exploring your Career Path

Try to do as much as you can when exploring your career path so you can know the following?
  • Do you like being your own boss?
  • How do you react to indecisiveness at work?
  • Do you like to do things by the book?
  • Do you prefer consistency or change or a balance?
The above are some things that can highly influence your experience at work.

Ignoring your Feelings

Don't ignore your feelings when you are faced with new or old situations. You might try to but they are stronger than you think. You aren't an animal who can't necessarily be a judge of their feelings. I mean even animals use their feelings/senses pretty well. What about us?

Being in a Teacher's Shoes

Have you ever been in a teacher's shoes?Let's talk about being entrusted with the futures of countless children in one of the most vulnerable stages of their lives. Let's talk about having the opportunity to be a major influencer. Think about teachers for a second.

The "Small" & "Big" things

Sometimes all you want to do is the big thing in order to make a difference while you should be focusing on the daily little things. Those little things can at times amount into the one big thing you want and need.

The Badge of Patience

Have you ever thought about yourself as patient? Yes or No. Either way you need to expose yourself to a whole lot experiences before you give yourself that badge.

Standing in the Fire

Sometimes you have to stand in the fire and hold on even when nothing makes sense. Why? Because you are courageous and believe that something worthwhile will come out of the entire challenging ordeal.

Being a Blessing or a Curse

If you had the choice to be a blessing or a curse, which would you choose and why? Which is easier?

Waiting Before Trusting

You don't have to believe every one because they said they said you should. What about waiting to see if they can earn it?

The Determination to Change

Sometimes all you need is the willpower to change whatever is in front of you. It might have never be done and that means you can be the trailblazer. Be quick to learn and don't fall in the cycle of complaining. No more backward thinking.

Spreading Smiles and Laughter

Watch the faces of those around you. Do they smile or frown when you enter the room? You have the ability through reading their faces to create more smiles and laughter than the contrary wherever you go.

Your Attitude Thermostat and Thermometer

Sometimes it's not about what you are doing or not doing do but simply your attitude. Your attitude can be the difference between a smile or a frown on someone's face. You can choose to be a thermostat instead of a thermometer.

Loving Children

You don't love a child because they are lovable but because you know that they need some love.

Pieces of Thoughts

The majority of the posts this summer will fall under Pieces of Thoughts. This means that the posts will be shorter and open to more interpretation. I have a busier schedule this summer and I thought that making the posts shorter would ensure that you all can still receive frequent posts.

Masking and Unmasking Our Inner Lives

People will let you see their surfaces for the most part. What about their inner stories? Those stories will only be shared with those who dare to go beyond the masks worn by many. Will you dare to unmask yourself or someone else today? Just be wise before you do because you don't have to share your entire life story in 1 day. Take it easy!

Lessons from Roommates

Do you remember your first roommate? What do you remember about them the most? I remember a couple of mine and I can list what I fondly remember about them:
  • Tidiness
  • Transparency
  • Friendliness
  • Punctuality
  • Ambition
  • Positivity
  • Sense of humour
  • Encourager
Soooo I realized that I forgot some of my roommates from high school so I will have to let it go. Nevertheless, some of the people that I've stayed with for extended periods have broadened my perspective on life through the things that they did or did not do. Our lives are truly indeed letters to be read.

People and Purpose

Everybody in your life is there for a reason. You have the power to understand their presence as a positive or negative force. It's all about perception. If you choose to focus on the negatives then even your stepping stones will turn into stumbling blocks. So learn to process the ups and downs of life in a way that will take you up and not down.

Thoughts on Greetings

There are people you pass without even saying hello. And, sometimes you pass people and don't even say their name. Do you know it or did you forget it? Whatever your reasons try to brighten someone else' s day by echoing their name with a smile when you pass them by.

Encouraging Those Around You

I am so excited that my roommate from highschool won a regional beauty pageant. The interesting thing is that even in high school, I could tell that she might have a future there although she never mentioned it. The moral of the story is that if you see something in someone please be kind enough to uplift them with words of encouragement. You just never know who you might be around.

Gifts in Unlikely Packages

Have you ever been taught something by someone you least expected? You might have been told they were uncapable and yet they ended being the solution to your problem. Don't always take things at face value. Wait and see for yourself what is really going on or you might miss out on your blessings which might come in unlikely packages.

Repeating Patterns

Have you ever been let down by those you never expected? Have you ever been shocked by the fakeness that you allowed to enflower your life? Well it's time to wake up. Stop making the same mistake in choosing your social circles. As, Christians would say, Jesus didn't die for you to keep exercising foolishness in who you surround yourself with. #Iron sharpens Iron

Appreciating Teachers

Teachers are some of the most influential people in our lives but they are not always treated well. They actually spend a lot of time with children than even caretakers at times. Remember to appreciate the teachers who helped you along the way.

The Difference between Silence and Listening

There is a beauty in knowing when to voice your opinion and when to hush. Of course, always listen but in-depth listening does not equal total silence. Recognize the difference.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is something you give. You give it to someone and yourself. Forgiveness is freedom. And, why do you need to forgive? Because one day you might very well need it.

First Impressions

First impressions can be misleading and sometimes true so use your heart and mind. Also, remember that everyone including you deserves a second chance.
