The Difference between Silence and Listening

There is a beauty in knowing when to voice your opinion and when to hush. Of course, always listen but in-depth listening does not equal total silence. Recognize the difference.

Thoughts on Self-conduct

Don't bottle everything inside of you about what you see, hear, and think. And, don't let it all out either. Learn to find a balance with who you internally and externally. And, speak out when you need to but always leave a larger room for listening.

The Art of Listening

When you think about effective communication, what comes to your mind? I bet that a lot of people will think about speaking. There is one important skill that is highly forgotten and that is listening. Do you cut off people often? Then you aren't a good listener. Learn to listen and it will help you to be a better communicator. Take a day at a time and do  it even when you feel like you have something more important to say.

How to be a Better Listener

Stop making everything about you. Not everyone wants to hear about your life. Make everything about others and through selflessness you can find healing. Make it your goal to be a better listener everyday. Ask and ask questions about someone and give feedback. If you are uninvited to give your opinion then hush. Not everyone is meant to listen to you but you can make it your goal to listen to everyone.

How to Prepare for an Interview

When you speak don't be like a bubbling fountain. Don't just volunteer information that is unasked for. You will be judged by the measure of the words that you speak. Don't wait for an interview to be your best self. Make it your life and you will ace interviews.

Avoiding the Selfishness Trap in Communication

Why is it always about you? Are you sure everyone wants to keep on hearing about what you got going on? Your life isn't a reality tv show. Take time to show interest in others lives instead. When communicating make it about them and their life and not you and yours. That's how you will know who is genuinely interested in you as a total person.

Learning to Listen

People try to say things to us everyday. They don't only say things in words. They also use actions and gestures. Real listening involves seeking to understand the unspoken.

Listening to our Children

Take time to listen to children. There is a lot that they can teach you about yourself and others. Listen to them also because they need you to do so. Not every child has the privilege of being in good hands so be an angel to all the children around you.

The Importance of Discernment

Someone might have told you that you can't do it. It is wise to listen to the opinions of others and even more wiser to discern the reason behind their advice. So don't just throw advice outside the door until you are sure that you understand the message behind it.

Love and Listening

There is a lot that you might not know about those around you. Use your time wisely and learn about others. People need a listening ear and you don't have to always be on the receiving end. Let your love motivate you to give your full attention to those around you in words, thoughts, and actions.

Preventing Suicide

Sometimes the people who kill themselves seem to have led the happiest lives. Sometimes there are vivid signs and people know that something is coming. Regardless, it is important for communities to watch out for each other. Don't be superficial. Let's fight suicide by being real with the people around us a day at a time. Sometimes all this means is you have to shut up and let someone else speak more than you. Just do it because you never know that you could be saving a life by shutting your mouth for a second.

The Writing is On your Heart

Some of us might be over-familiar with the expression  that says The Writing is on the wall. Well sometimes the writing is on your heart. There are times that you can sense that certain things are not alright. Do not ignore what your heart is alerting you about. Listen to your mind as well as your heart.

5 Lessons from Children

There is a lot that children can teach us. I love working with little children and they never fail to amaze me. Here are some things that children can teach us:
  1. It is okay to have big dreams even if they don't come true
  2. Enjoy the moment and don't always rush to the next thing
  3. Take time to listen before responding and that is how you will learn how to get things done
  4. Be inquisitive and don't be afraid to ask questions
  5. Be bold and don't count your losses before you actually attempt something

Listen to him

How many times have we all heard the same message in many ways from different people? And what message? That one word...Listen. It sounds very easy but in this busy world full of Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, Pinterest, and everything else we get accustomed to just speaking and never stepping back for even a second to listen to the men we love in our life. So don't forget to step back and listen.

True love

Everyone wants to fall in love and stay there forever? So we end up not only wanting love, but true love, when we eventually decide to settle down. But true love is not just something, as easy as abc and 123, it is an everyday active process that requires two hearts to be actively engaged in being trustworthy, romantic, understanding and much more. The acronym for TRUE LOVE  below, might be a great reminder, and of course don't hold on to that person too tight. Let them also have their own time to do whatever it is, and of course because they are your true love, the necessary time apart won't change a thing.

Feelings and feelings

Feelings are an important part of the human experience, and I guess learning to really listen to them, is what grants them significance. Do you remember how your first kiss felt? What about when you accomplished something big? When you first met your enemy or friend? Feelings are unpredictable and sometimes not the best guide of action, but keep an eye on how you make others feel based on their reaction to you. Watch it!;)

Listening from the heart...

Sometimes it seems that speakers are highly valued in everyday life. Speaking is indeed a wonderful art when done well at the right time with the right words to the right person. Along, with speaking, listening is also a part of speech that should not be forgotten as it helps to foster effective communication. I love to speak to different people about different things but I am now learning that I have to listen well in order to not interrupt people, and also to gauge the course of the conversation. So indeed let's remember the old saying that "we have 2 ears and 2 eyes  but only 1 mouth."
