Thoughts on the New School Year

Today is the start of a new school year for a number of students and their instructors. Every one wants to make a difference and succeed. How will you do that? There is no formula on how to have the best school year but here are my 2 cents:
  • Begin with the end in mind
  • Remember that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains
  • Appreciate the bumps in your journey because they will give you the momentum to move forward
  • Find musical jams to take you through the ups and downs
  • Give as much as you can daily to those around you as you never know how much they need it

How to Make Your Dreams Come True

Don't despair if you aren't who you want to be today. Some of the most famous and successful people never had things working for them. My boss at work told me that God can take you through some things in life so that you can make that your ministry or mission in life. So don't take your pain or gain for granted as both can be useful.

Making Daily Decisions

If you play with fire you will get burned. Read the writing on the wall before playing around with foolishness. Something may bring short-term pleasure but bring long-lasting pain and regret. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Trust and Dependence

You need to know the time and place to trust someone. It's all about seasons. Don't be over-dependent on anyone including yourself.

What Would You Do?

It is sometimes easy for us to judge others or hypothetically make the perfect decisions for them. Sometimes you need to step back before giving advice and honestly ask yourself; what would you do?

The Power of the Truth

You can't hide from the truth. You might ignore its scream or whisper but it can and will catch up with you sooner or later.

The Importance of Discernment

Someone might have told you that you can't do it. It is wise to listen to the opinions of others and even more wiser to discern the reason behind their advice. So don't just throw advice outside the door until you are sure that you understand the message behind it.

Self-discipline and Procrastination

Some college students think it is cute to say "I procrastinate a lot." Well that would be cute for an infant to say. But as a young adult you are basically just saying that you have no self-discipline to do what you really need to be doing at the right time and place and in the right way. You are basically dissing yourself. Like who would openly say, "I have no self-discipline" and yet millions will say, "I am a procrastinator." And yeah it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that takes you down as you never live up to your full potential although it may look like you are superficially thriving. So today is your lucky day to kiss your lover Procrastination good bye. Hehehe!

Put Your But Down

People have different ways of getting their messages across. One of the most important lessons, I have learned from some people in my life is, "Put Your But Down." It may sound harsh to some, but isn't prevention better than cure? Oh yes it is that is why we need to make sure that we cultivate self-discipline. We need to discipline ourselves and make sure that we know when to walk around and when to sit down and get important stuff done in the most timely and efficient manner.

Reasons to Sleep

Why do you sleep? Sleep is a time to relax and re-charge. If you are using sleep to avoid your problems then you are misusing it. You have to make sure that you only sleep when you have to. If you just sleep regardless of whether your tired or not, then the things in your life will also begin to take on a soporific state.
